On Labor Day, we invite you to think about labor. On Labor Day, we invite you to think about labor. The labor of Black people whose hands, bodies, knowledge, imagination, and stolen time built so much of what we call America—often without compensation, recognition, or ownership. The labor of Black queer people who have helped imagine, organize, perform, caretake, and fight our way toward liberation—often while being written out of the very movements they helped make possible. And we invite you to think about another kind of labor: the labor of love. bell hooks wrote, “In truth, true love is all about work.” Assembly was born from that kind of work. Assembly, currently streaming on PBS’s Independent Lens & the PBS Documentaries YouTube Channel from June 22- Sept 21. *Clip edit by @ashtronautsky
